Carrie Schafer is our Resource Specialist at Monarch Grove. She started teaching in 2005 and has taught elementary, middle and high school! She received a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology from Cal Poly. After she graduated, she worked with adults with mental illnesses; most of them had been in special education as children. This helped her decide to work towards her special education credential at Cal Poly SLO and she earned a level 2 credential at Cal State Fullerton.
Mrs. Schafer lives her in Los Osos with her husband, two kids and two big dogs! Her children attend Monarch Grove as well. Her family keeps her really busy. She spends a lot of time running her kids around to different sports, activities and coaching their baseball and soccer teams when she can. She also enjoy reading, learning about health and nutrition, working out, and she also does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!! She grew up playing all kinds of sports and earned a scholarship to play softball at Cal Poly. She says that playing sports at the collegiate level has had a huge impact on the person she is today.
