The Monarch Grove PTA is a group of dynamic and empowered parents who raise funds for events that enhance your child’s academic, emotional and physical growth. Together, Parents and Teachers have have made us one of the top scoring schools in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District! We encourage parents to join us in Room 23 for meetings. The Monarch Grove Children’s Garden was created in 2005 by a group of parents who revamped an existing California native garden and constructed six raised beds for vegetables and herbs on an unused portion of the school grounds. Over the past four years fruit trees have been planted, a garden shed purchased and a larger worm bin constructed, creating an outdoor classroom.

The Garden is supported financially by the PTA and generous donations from the community. The children have raised funds through plant sales and farmer’s markets. We currently maintain the garden through the support of two volunteer Garden Coordinators whom organize workdays and help facilitate students and teachers utilizing the Garden. We recently were awarded a Garden Grant to take the Garden one step further by implementing a program to educate students in how to prepare fruits and vegetables to create delicious meals.
