LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! |
Principal’s Message: This is a very, very busy time of the year at most schools. Monarch Grove is not an exception. The state mandated testing is completed, open house has come and gone and we are now in the final weeks of school. There are many field trips, and end-of-the-year type culminating activities. Thanks to all the parents who have worked together to provide those delicious Friday lunches during the month of May. I can assure you that you have outdone yourselves and that they are thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated!!
VISITING FIRST GRADE CLASSROOMS: We understand that many kindergarten parents are interested in visiting first grade classrooms to get an idea what the next school may be like. To that end we have established the following visitation schedule: Monday through Thursday 9 AM -10:15. We ask that you RSVP with our office a day in advance! Thanks!
As always, if you have any questions, comments or friendly advice please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me! Lakers Rock!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION General Mills Box Tops are being collected again this year. An envelope will be in every classroom for the children to deposit the boxtops of participating products. Each box top earns $.10 for our school. This year’s 5th grade classes is collecting and submitting the box tops to offset the cost for those children to attend Camp Rancho Allegre next year. PLEASE REMEMBER TO CLIP THE BOX TOPS AND SEND THEM TO SCHOOL!!!! THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
GARDEN NEWS: Adopt-a-Garden!
If any families would like to take care of the garden for a week during the summer months please call Jennifer at 528-7879. This would involve weeding, harvesting and making sure the irrigation is working properly. This is a great way to have some constructive family time during the summer!
LOST AND FOUND Parents please be sure to check the lost and found in the multipurpose room for lost items that may belong to your child. Any items left past the last day of school will be donated. Thank you.
Thank you to all the families that have brought food for the Staff lunches each Friday this month! The staff is thrilled each week by the generosity of the students and their parents. Sixth grade is hosting the final lunch this Friday and I know the staff is looking forward to it. If you have brought food in your own containers from home, please don’t forget to pick them up in the Staff Lounge this week Thanks again for all your generosity!

Battle of the books is fast approaching. There are about 75; 3rd thru 6th grade students who will participate in this year’s event. The students will be on teams, taking turns answering questions on the books that they read this year in a fun game-like style. We are looking for 10 volunteers (readers and scorekeepers) who would be available from 8:10 until noon on Friday, June 6 to help with this event.
The READERS will ask the participants questions from the official list and announce whether or not the response is correct. The SCOREKEEPERS will use a stopwatch to ensure the team is given 30 seconds to respond and will keep score. The actual event will begin at 9AM, but we would like the volunteers to be in the multi-purpose room by 8:15 for a brief and simple orientation. We welcome the volunteers to stay and join us for a pizza lunch at noon, and watch the 'Grand Battle' between the top 2 teams at 1:00. Although we do not need volunteers during this time, you won’t want to miss this conclusion. If you can volunteer or if you have any questions, please call Lynn Baltimore at 528-8076. Thank you!

Perseverance
When you get into a tight place, and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a moment longer, never give up then--for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.
